2 girls and lots of giggling (I)

*UPDATE 20090309* If the images appear soft, stop hitting your screen. something went wrong during my print export / flickr upload resize to 800px. Will fix this in newer posts.

Occasionally I get an unusual request, things that aren’t in my normal shooting range (wedding, pregnancy, babies, etc…).
This time Tom³ his girlfriend Elly wanted to surprise her best friend with a photoshoot, she wanted a couple of nice pictures of her & Vicky.

So in a nutshell: 2 girls and I can’t make them kiss, this would be a challenge…

For the first part of the shoot we headed out to a nearby abandoned playground (or whatever it was), I had a little hour left before I’d lose the the light. Looking around I spotted some kind of broken theater stools and found that they would make for some interesting shots. (I’m a sucker for props)

The sun tried to peep through once and a while but that was enough to test my new acquisition, the California Sunbounce Mini. On the close up shots the influence is clearly visible even when it was all cloudy. I’ll add some side-by-side samples on a next post.

On these shots I purposely shot against the sun for some rimlight & flare (post processed for a different look)

Walking on a bit and there it was, a filthy dumped couch, climb aboard ladies ! (I told ya I’m a sucker for props)

Oh did I mention there was lots of giggling ? 😉

In “part deux” we ventured further for some underground action and I’ll tell you about the rocks that were thrown at us … but fear not, no women got harmed during the making of these shots 😉

A new year, my first year

A logo revamp and consequent blog restyling was in order.
I’ll release more details about the logo soon. But the smart ones can already spot a little difference².

I’m now able to blog pictures up to 800px but I’m still undecided if 640 isn’t sufficient …
The css isn’t final yet, I’m still tweaking it (is the orange readable enough?)

To kick things off with style, a very very very very teaser‘ish image of a crazy/fun/bizarre shoot I had with 2 girls yesterday …
More about that soon 😉

640px, what do you like best ?

The 2nd pictures isn’t related to the first one , but wouldn’t that have been cool 😉

Travel album

I guess Jef was right, it will be hard to top this kind of article.

My last real shoot seems like ages ago. This weekend my season kicks off again, it’s looking to be a busy year , I’m psyched, I can’t wait to get back out there.

Meanwhile I’ve (re)started working on our South-America travel book, progress is painstakingly slow (that seems to be the way for me when making albums), I’m experimenting (yet again) with a bunch of border brushes and layout templates.

Fotobuch doesn’t give me the book format I want, Blurb does with the large landscape format (13″x11″) but there I’m limited to the templates in the software. I’ve been testing lightroom print exports, pixelcreatorpro, photojunction … trying to find a way to automate my workflow for this specific book. Pure photoshop is a bit slow for me ….

Hell I probably would have finished the book already if I hadn’t tried out 10 other things first.

If you have any album design software tips, even if it has a different (good) print service, drop ’em in the comments.
